Mette Milling - Watercolour and Acrylic on Paper

Mette Milling is trained from Husflidshøjskolen and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and has worked with art, colour, design and interior spaces throughout her life. Since 1993 she has run her own business in interior design, colour consulting and decoration, and has taught colour theory at the Royal Danish Academy and Aalborg University.

In her art, personal memories meet the forms of nature and the interplay of colours. Inspiration comes from childhood in the forest, by the fjord and beach in Glyngøre, and from summer holidays on the South Funen islands - swallows, stones, flowers, berries, water and wind appear as traces in her works.

Milling draws on her family's creative traditions and on art and architectural history, including colour theorists such as Josef Albers and Johannes Itten. Nature is a recurring focal point, and the images unite sensory colour experiences with forms, patterns and narratives from landscape and memory.

The exhibition is shown at the library from 21 September to 16 October.
