Description was written before the event

Danish Fiddle Quartet performs Nordic chamber folk, music that moves between the classical tradition and folk music. The quartet consists of violinists Jørgen Dickmeiss and Ditte Fromseier Hockings - both established, award-winning names in the Danish and international folk music scene - as well as Bruno Sanches on viola and Mathilde Helding on cello, both from Denmark's young classical elite.

The repertoire includes new, original compositions and arrangements, including works by Carl Nielsen and traditional folk melodies. In some pieces, the two violinists set down their bows and instead bring out mandolin and guitar, singing in two-part harmony.

The quartet has received several international reviews. FolkMagasin in Germany (Martin Czech) highlights the ensemble and album as top-class, particularly noting the songs "Nattens fred" and "Nattens favn", sung by Ditte and Jørgen. Rootstime.be in Belgium (Dani Heyvaert) calls it a versatile album with excellent playing and mentions the closing number "Læsehesten" as a highlight. Rootszone (Nils Thorlund) writes that open-minded listeners from both the folk music and classical worlds can surrender to well-executed harmony.

Musicians: Jørgen Dickmeiss (violin, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Ditte Fromseier Hockings (violin, vocals), Bruno Sanches (viola) and Mathilde Helding (cello).
