"Where the Journey Ends" - Author Lecture with Jesper Bugge Kold

Jesper Bugge Kold - author lecture: Thursday 14 January 2027, 19:00–21:00, Helsinge Bibliotek, Helsinge. Tickets cost 35 kr.

Helsinge Library invites you to an author evening with Jesper Bugge Kold, whose trilogy about Danish emigrants to America in the late 1800s has found many readers, including among the patrons of Gribskov Libraries. The evening is designed as a gift to the library's readers during the winter darkness.

Bugge Kold draws on his romantic trilogy and tells the story of more than 300,000 Danes who emigrated to America from 1850 onwards. In 1879, his own relative, Peter Julius Christensen, left Denmark, and his letters became the foundation for the story of Johanne and Jens - a Danish family seeking a better life abroad.

The trilogy consists of "Where the Wind Turns", "Where the Fire Burns", and "Where the Journey Ends". The series has earned the author several prize nominations, and in 2025 he was named Author of the Year on plusbog.dk.

About the author: Jesper Bugge Kold made his debut in August 2014 with the novel "Winter Men", which was among five nominees for the BogForum Debut Prize. Since then it has become a bestseller in both the USA and Germany. Born in 1972, he grew up in Rødovre and now lives on South Funen. He holds a master's degree from IT University Copenhagen and works daily at a library.
