Fan, Fandom and Fanfiction

Thessa Lindof, lecturer and PhD at Aalborg University, presents four lectures on fanfiction - what it is, where it comes from, and the communities that have grown around it. The series is arranged in collaboration between Folkeuniversitetet and Trekanten Library and Cultural Centre.

All four evenings take place on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 18:45 with the following programme:

9/9/26: "Fan, Fandom, Fanfiction" - the history of fanfiction with archiveofourown.org (AO3) as the focal point.
16/9/26: "Only One Bed, Slow Burn and Other 'Abominations'" - tropes and genres in fanfiction.
23/9/26: "How to Fanfiction" - workshop on archiveofourown.org as reader, user and author.
30/9/26: "Fanfiction's Challenges" - on censorship, artificial intelligence, copyright and preservation of fanfiction culture.
