An Evening with Leif Davidsen

Leif Davidsen's latest novel, Requiem for Russia, is both a thriller and a portrait of Russia's shift from freedom toward dictatorship and war. The protagonist Tor Alexandr Arnborg - a Danish-Russian special forces soldier - is forced to repay an old debt of honor, which brings his quiet life in rural Russia to a brutal end. He is drawn back into service and to Denmark, where his loyalty to both countries is tested with his life at stake.

The conversation begins with the novel but also explores Russia and Ukraine more broadly - including Putin's path to Europe's bloodiest war since World War II. Leif Davidsen draws on over 30 years of travel to Russia and his personal knowledge of the country.
