Author Evening with Emma Holten

Emma Holten's debut novel Underskud was published in 2024 and received enthusiastic acclaim from both critics and readers - the latter awarded it the Readers' Book Prize 2025. In this lecture, she explores the book's central question: what happens to care when economic models only recognize what can be measured in profit?

Holten examines the connection between economics, care, and gender roles, questioning the conventional understanding of what care work is worth - not only for the most vulnerable, but for society as a whole.
