We Are Tove

We Are Tove - concert line-up: Friday 8 October 2027, 20:00–22:00, Byen Hus, Jelling. Tickets cost 225 kr.

We Are Tove is a live concert where Tove Ditlevsen's poems are set to newly composed music. The music is not intended as illustration, but as an equal art form alongside the poetry. Three musicians perform twelve poems from the programme. The New York Times named The Copenhagen Trilogy one of the 100 best books of the 21st century.

Carsten Mørch-Bentzen is a singer and text interpreter who delivers the words with presence without over-interpreting the poems. David Rosenkilde plays guitar and has composed the music based on the poems' own rhythm and linguistic musicality. Steen Rasmussen is an internationally renowned jazz pianist. He has performed with world stars and on major jazz stages around the world, bringing depth, nuance, and improvisational freedom to the ensemble.

The music sits somewhere between the folkloric, the lyrical, and the jazzy. It is simple and precise, allowing the words to stand clear, while harmony and arrangements work with mood and timbre.

The ensemble has performed to full houses at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival and the Danish Film Institute. In summer 2026 they perform at the Lauritzen Prize at the Royal Theatre. Tove Ditlevsen's relatives have given the band exclusive permission to record 12 selected poems. In 2027 an album with all 12 songs will be released on vinyl and digitally, and the same year the band will tour.
