EGESKOV - Lecture with Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis

Egeskov Castle may be a small dot on the map of Denmark, but it frames a grand story: the history of Denmark after 1864, when the country gained Europe's wisest peasantry and narrowly avoided a revolution that could have toppled the monarchy. The novels are built on both real and fictional characters and illuminate an underexplored chapter of Danish history about the foundation of our modern society.

Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis discusses her work on the historical novel - the extensive research before the writing process, the balance between historical facts and fiction, and the art of building a cast of credible, human characters, whether historical or invented.

The lecture takes place at Munkebo Library on Tuesday, September 22 at 7-9 p.m.
