Maren Uthaug presents 1%: Tuesday 19 January 2027, 19:00–21:00, Brovst Bibliotek, Brovst. Tickets cost 95–110 kr.
Maren Uthaug visits Brovst Library to discuss her novel 1%, the final installment of her speculative fiction trilogy that also includes the bestsellers 11% and 88%. In 2027, she is touring the country to share her thoughts on the world she has created in the percentage trilogy.
In the trilogy, she has removed free men and created a matriarchal society. Here, female orgasms are considered mental hygiene, and everything related to men is perceived as disgusting and repulsive.
Uthaug won the Golden Laurels award for 11%. Both 11% and 88% were named Novel of the Year at the Mofibo Awards, two years in a row. The books have brought her surprising press headlines, harsh messages in her inbox, and very long queues at book signings.
Information wrote about 11%: 'Literature doesn't get much wilder'. Jyllands-Posten gave 1% six stars and called it 'in every way a perfect novel, which should be required reading for all adults because of both form and content.'
