Cultural Dinner with David Trads: America, Where Are You?
Arden Bibliotek, Arden · 150 kr. · ≈ 20 €
America as we knew it is undergoing transformation. The nation once defined by optimism - "today is good, but tomorrow will be better" - is hard to recognize today. Division, unrest, and unprecedented pessimism dominate the landscape, and the American dream is under pressure.
David Trads offers his perspective on what is happening, why it is happening, and what it means for the rest of the world - including whether there is still hope. The lecture draws on four decades of close knowledge of the country: he lived in Michigan in the 1980s, California in the 1990s, and Washington DC in the 2010s, attended high school, worked as a football coach, and worked in the nation's capital. He also examines developments leading up to the midterm elections in November and explores how Trump and Putin became the leaders they are. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.
The event begins with a shared meal at 6 p.m.
