Waleed Safi - The Journey to Mecca

In 2025, Waleed Safi published the critically acclaimed book "All Roads Lead to Mecca" - an account of Middle Eastern history interwoven with his personal journey as a disguised pilgrim to Islam's holiest site.

Safi has covered the Middle East as a journalist for some of Denmark's largest newspapers for over a decade. He speaks four Arabic dialects and has lived in Cairo, Baghdad, Beirut, Istanbul, and Ankara.

On the evening, he shares how a non-believer experienced the journey to the Holy City, what forces shape the region's societies today, and which historical events have left lasting marks on Middle Eastern history and culture.

The event takes place at Hobro Library with Mariagerfjord Libraries as host.
