Debut Fest: Microperformance
Brønshøj Vandtårn, Copenhagen · Free
"Microperformance" is Frida Brock's investigation into how to portray life that is invisible and silent to the individual human, yet crucial for life on Earth. Through a video portrait of living microorganisms in soil, she uses the microscope to approach the life we normally cannot see - while asking whether we understand nature better by zooming in, or whether we lose something of the whole when we do.
The project includes a video installation with sequences filmed through a microscope. Twice during Debut Fest, it is activated in a live-microscope performance where Frida Brock examines site-specific soil samples and projects the microlife directly from the microscope - accompanied by a sound universe created in collaboration with a sound artist based on recordings of vibrations in the soil.
