Forbandet dannet - A New One-Man Show by Knud Romer

Knud Romer has a bone to pick with the word "dannelse" (cultivation/education) - not because the concept is irrelevant, but because it has become so dusty and burdened that people tune out the moment it is mentioned. It always ends up making the person using it sound like a self-righteous lecturer in the style of Emma Gads' "Takt og Tone".

Years ago, Romer appeared on DR's Debatten and warned that education without cultivation is education without substance. He still believes that point holds. In this new one-man show, he attempts to formulate an updated concept of cultivation - one not destroyed by its own history. As he puts it himself: he talks loudly to himself anyway, so whether anyone wants to listen is another matter.

Knud Romer was born in 1960 and grew up as an only child in Nykøbing Falster with a German mother and a Danish father. He is an author, debater, and award-winning advertising executive. His debut in 2006, the autofictional novel "Den som blinker er bange for døden" (He Who Blinks Is Afraid of Death), earned him, among other prizes, De Gyldne Laurbær and Weekendavisen's literature prize. Since then he has published "Kort over Paradis" (2018) and "Pigen i Violinen" (2021).
