Debut Fest: HEAVY RAIN
Kildevæld Kulturcenter, Copenhagen · Free
HEAVY RAIN is a performance by five young women drawing on hip-hop dance culture to explore the feeling of pushing forward while invisible forces constantly pull the other way. The choreography is built around an illusion of heavy rain and headwind, exploring youth's chronic sense of inadequacy through strong physicality, rhythms and grooves that raise questions about exhaustion, resistance, anger, vulnerability and perseverance.
Behind the performance stands Camilla Siddu, an Italian dancer, choreographer and cultural activist based in Copenhagen. Her practice is rooted in hip-hop with a pronounced interest in bringing freestyle-based dance styles into the theatrical expression without severing them from their cultural, musical and community origins. She is also active on the Copenhagen dance scene as a teacher and organizer.
