Children's Theatre: The Nightingale

Andersen's Suitcase Theatre stages H.C. Andersen's "The Nightingale" as a puppet theatre for children aged 3 to 9.

The performance takes children to China and the Chinese emperor's palace, where the story of "beauty in simplicity" is told through music and fairy tale. A little nightingale is banished from the empire because the emperor prefers an artificial bird of gold adorned with rubies and diamonds - but the artificial bird wears out and can break.

The emperor's servant is played by a human actor who guides the audience through the story, while the other characters appear as puppets.
