Herregårdenes Dag at Sønderborg Slot
Sønderborg Slot hosts two free guided tours on August 16, 2026, as part of Herregårdenes Dag (Manor Houses Day). The castle holds more than 800 years of history, and the tours take you through some of the most important rooms while hearing stories about the people who shaped the place.
This includes the church, the knights' hall, the dungeon, and the old bakery - including the story of King Christian II, who was imprisoned in the castle for 17 years, and Duke Hans the Younger, who had 23 children and is the ancestor of the current Danish royal family.
In the children's room, kids can cut and decorate their own crown and try on costumes inspired by Duke Hans the Younger's era.
The tours take place at 11:00 and 13:00. Adults pay regular admission (115 kr., paid at booking); holders of annual passes and members of HSAOS enter free; children are free. There are limited spaces, so advance booking is recommended.
