Daniel Müller-Schott and Elgar's Cello Concerto — Koncertsalen Alsion, Sønderborg

Cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, with over 30 albums to his name and multiple awards including Diapason d'Or and Gramophone's Editor's Choice, brings his interpretation of Elgar's Cello Concerto to the stage. He describes the work as one that reveals "deep emotional resonance" with each listening, and hopes audiences will find "comfort, melancholy, and yet a kind of hope" in the music.

On the podium stands Alevtina Ioffe, the orchestra's new Honorary Conductor, who leads both the Elgar concerto and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 1. Orchestra member Jorunn Solløs remarks on the evening: "The programme is truly wonderful, the cellist is world-class, and conductor Alevtina Ioffe is one of my favourite conductors. She really brings out the best in all of us."

Programme:
M. Mussorgsky: Overture to Khovanshchina
E. Elgar: Cello Concerto
S. Rachmaninov: Symphony No. 1

Conductor: Alevtina Ioffe - Soloist: Daniel Müller-Schott, cello
