Beethoven's 7th

Conductor Molly Turner, called "a force of nature on the podium" by The Washington Post, has previously served as assistant conductor with the Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, and San Francisco Symphony.

The evening opens with Bacewicz' Concerto for Strings - an energetic journey through powerful rhythms and tense, tonal harmonies - followed by Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 with soloist Stella Chen. The American violinist won the Queen Elizabeth International Violin Competition in 2019 and was named Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards in 2023.

The concert concludes with Beethoven's 7th Symphony, by some called "the dance symphony". It became a major success at its premiere in 1813 - possibly because during the Napoleonic Wars it felt both triumphant and life-affirming.
