Creative Writing Workshop: The Writer, The Slacker, & The Inner Critic

A workshop for all genres and experience levels, led by Danish-American author Alexander Weinstein. Instruction is in English.

The workshop addresses getting started with writing, finding your creative voice, and managing doubt - what Weinstein calls the Inner Critic. The focus is on play and experimentation in the writing process, taking risks, and tackling larger projects you've been putting off. Much of the workshop consists of shared writing exercises, so bring pen and paper or your own laptop. Seating is limited, so you may need to hold your computer or paper in your lap. The library provides writing surfaces, and water and coffee are available on the 4th floor - feel free to bring your own water bottle.

Alexander Weinstein is founder and director of the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. He has published the short story collections "Universal Love" and "Children of the New World", the latter selected as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and named best book of the year by NPR and Electric Literature. His short story "Saying Goodbye to Yang" was adapted by A24 Films as "After Yang" and received the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance, the Boston Society of Film Critics Award, and a place on Barack Obama's list of the best films of 2022.

The workshop takes place on the 4th floor, Hovedbiblioteket, Krystalgade 15. Participation is free but requires registration via Billetto. The workshop is for adults. Questions can be sent to i343@kk.dk.
