Tove Jansson - In the Shadow of War

Library cultural mediator Sigurbjörg Elín Hólmarsdóttir, cand.mag. in history, takes a closer look at the artist and woman Tove Jansson, who published the first Moomin book in 1945 - in the middle of the war. The Moomin universe is imaginative and seemingly safe, but themes of flight, loneliness, freedom and tolerance run like currents beneath the surface of the idyll.

Sigurbjörg also explores Finland-Swedish Tove Jansson's other art and later literary work, her life with partner Tuulikki Pietilä and summers in the archipelago.
