Documentary Film "Mr. Nobody vs Putin" with Presentation by Mille Rode, Secretary General of Danish PEN

The documentary "Mr. Nobody vs Putin" (2025), directed by David Borenstein with Pavel Talankin as co-director and participant, follows Pavel - known as Pasha - a teacher in a small Russian town who secretly begins filming children and teachers after Putin introduces propaganda and war education into the school curriculum. He smuggles the footage out of Russia, documenting how propaganda and war shape the society he lives in.

After the screening, Mille Rode, Secretary General of Danish PEN, gives a presentation followed by discussion. Rode has spent many years working on conditions for writers and artists in countries including Russia, Belarus, Iran, Egypt, and China. She is part of the working group behind the #ForbiddenBooks campaign and lived in the Soviet Union from 1986 to 1989. She will speak about the state of freedom of expression with particular focus on Russia. Danish PEN is part of PEN International, which works for freedom of expression and the right to free artistic expression.
