Social Dining: Dark Songs from Højskolesangbogen

Higher-school songbook Højskolesangbogen contains more than community and light. Crime writers and higher-school enthusiasts Dagmar Winther and Kenneth Degnbol take the audience through the songbook's darker corners in "Dark Songs" - those dealing with power, desire, revenge, and fanaticism.

Through selected songs, focus is placed on the human shadow side: psychopathy, lust for power, powerlessness, jealousy, religious fanaticism, and exclusion. Each song is presented in a narrative frame, where text, history, and human insight are woven together with communal singing, and familiar melodies take on a new and unsettling resonance.
