Farewell Bird is an interactive children's theatre performance created by Wunschmachine, working with interactive performance, physical theatre and anthropology. The performance combines a sound walk with encounters with different characters who ask the children for help or invite them to participate in rituals - and concludes with grave-lemonade and an open space to share experiences about cemeteries and farewell.

The audience gathers at the cemetery, where an actor welcomes them and distributes headphones. The group follows her inside, and the sounds take over: first footsteps on gravel, then the birds. They hold onto a rope and move slowly forward, until suddenly interrupted by an angry girl in a yellow raincoat who shouts: "why does it have to be like this".

The performance creates space for reflection on how we say goodbye - and how we have done so throughout history. It introduces the children to Beder Cemetery, where they may know people who are buried, and opens the place in new ways.

The performance is aimed at children from 5 years old and their parents/grandparents. On 5/9 it is performed twice: at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Free tickets are booked on this page - tickets must be booked for both children and adults. Questions can be sent to Katrine at katkoni@aarhus.dk
