The Wondrous World of Mushrooms - Knowledge, Poetry and Picnic in Biotopia
Albertslund Bibliotek, Albertslund · Free
Kyle Cometta from Funga Farm, a daily mushroom cultivator, shares his professional fascination with the audience. Three young researchers - Ajdin Redzepovic, Elias Dion Sandberg and Ardin Maksuti - have investigated how mushrooms send electrical signals to each other and present their findings. Poets Shëkufe Tadayoni Heiberg, Lars Emil Foder and Nicolaj Stochholm perform newly written texts centred on nature and mushrooms, while house philosopher Jon Auring Grimm uses the mushroom world as a starting point to discuss humanity's role in the ecosystem.
Nature guide Stine Schroll Kærgaard from Verdensmålscenteret leads participants through the realm of mushrooms, and Verdensmålscenteret has also arranged activities for children. Artist Gitte Juul invites everyone to contribute to a large collaborative knitted mycelium. All researchers, cultivators and poets are present throughout the day and available for informal conversation.
The event takes place at Biotopia's mushroom station, one of several stations in Albertslund created as part of the Albertslund Mycelium project - a project where volunteer citizens cultivate, forage and taste mushrooms themselves. Bring a blanket for the picnic if the weather permits.
Free entry with registration. Location: Biotopia.
