Thursday Meeting in Sunds: In the Wake of 90 Years of Rowing
Biblioteket i Sunds, Sunds · free
How does a rowing club come into being in the middle of Jutland, far from fjords and coasts? That question is the focus of this lecture about Herning Rowing Club, which celebrates 90 years in 2026.
Arne Ladegaard, vice chairman of Herning Rowing Club, tells the club's history from its early days at Sunds Lake in 1936 to the present day. Along the way, he discusses everyday life at the club, competitive rowing, the boats, traditional celebrations and christenings - and why rowing strengthens both body and community. The lecture is accompanied by photographs and anecdotes from life on the water.
The library serves coffee and tea with a small treat. Remember to bring your own mug to reduce single-use waste.
The sign-up list is available at the Library in Sunds from August 13 - drop by or call on Tuesday and Thursday at +45 96 28 88 66. Thursday Meetings are arranged in collaboration with residents of Sunds, held on the first Thursday of each month, and are free and open to all.
