Frederiksdal Chamber Folk Festival 2026
Frederiksdal Slot, Frederiksdal
Since 2020, the festival has welcomed unique musical experiences, talks, workshops, artistic encounters and a diverse community in the forest at Frederiksdal Slot in North Zealand near Virum. This year we look forward once again to gathering folk lovers on outdoor dance floors, classical music enthusiasts for intimate moments in the garden hall at Frederiksdal Slot, jam sessions for all in the barn, communal dining and family-friendly activities. There is also a special place for those stepping in for the first time to feel the atmosphere between living cultural heritage and beech trees, with the option of camping to let it all sink in. This year's theme for our talks, walks and workshops is - How we use the element wood.
Jam
Bring your instrument and become part of the festival's musical heart. The festival's jam sessions are the core of our community. In our informal jam circles, experienced musicians and curious beginners meet to play, listen and let the music grow in the moment. Everyone is welcome, because the only requirement is that you want to share the joy of music with others.
Communal dining
As evening approaches, we gather around long tables for a delicious, vegetarian and organic dinner prepared by the festival's resident chef, Oliver Olrik Lind. The menu is filling, nourishing and created with both community and the festival's rhythm in mind - so you are ready to enjoy the evening's concerts with fresh energy. If you wish to meet new people, we invite you to take a seat at our "conversation table". Here you will find others who are also curious, and if the conversation needs a push, you can use our conversation cards on the table.
Camping in a tent
Pitch your tent in the castle's back garden and experience a truly special camping experience. Bring your own tent and wake up to birdsong and fresh air. There are no caravans, but Furesøen lake is only 600 metres away if you need a morning dip. Sunday morning we offer a light breakfast buffet where you can enjoy a peaceful start to the day and greet other festival guests before you leave.
