Four-Hand Piano Works with Rikke Sandberg and Kristoffer Hyldig
Rikke Sandberg and Kristoffer Hyldig are masters of four-hand piano playing, bringing both renowned masterworks and a remarkable discovery to life with natural ease and precision. The concert features works by Schubert and Brahms, but Carl Nielsen's Sinfonia espansiva holds special significance. Rikke Sandberg discovered this previously unknown arrangement for four-hand piano in manuscript form at the Royal Library, transforming the grand orchestral work into something intimate. At the keyboard, new details emerge. Voices normally lost in the orchestra's fullness become clear. The music takes on entirely new life.
This discovery led to a recording of Carl Nielsen's complete works and arrangements for four-hand piano on OUR Recordings, an album that has received international acclaim and outstanding reviews. The concert is part of Schubertiaden - Roskilde's Classical Festival. Full programme: https://schubertselskabet.dk/schubertiaden-2026/
