LECTURE: Skovbokvarteret - a neighbourhood in Roskilde

Skovbokvarteret emerged in the early 1900s and today contains a heritage-worthy urban environment with distinctive architecture and notable craftsmanship. The neighbourhood's first residents were a diverse group - directors and labourers side by side - and the area also housed businesses such as Remisen, Garveriet and Kasernen. In 2023, Roskilde City Council adopted a conservation plan to protect the neighbourhood's character and prevent demolitions.

Authors Carsten Bagge Jensen, Klaus Schulz and Erik Zinglersen have written a book about the neighbourhood and will draw on the historical background of the neighbourhood's establishment and the city's development to the present day. The lecture is arranged in collaboration with Roskilde Museum Association.

The lecture takes place on 25 August at 19:00-21:00 at Roskilde Museum, Sankt Ols Stræde 3, 4000 Roskilde. Tickets cost 100 kr. (+ fee) and are purchased via Billetto.
