Rahbek's Salon on the Odyssey (part of the salon series Culture in Nature)
Rahbek's Salons resume after summer on Wednesday, August 26, 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m. as always). This autumn, Rahbek's Salons at Vartov focus on the interplay between culture and nature, exploring a range of European and Western masterworks through this lens. We begin fittingly with the Odyssey, which our good office neighbours at Vartov, the publisher A Mock Book, recently reissued in new editions. As always, Rahbek's Salons feature one or more speakers from the highest professional level, exceptional and passionate salon company, and light refreshments - typically coffee, tea, and water before and during the salon, plus a glass of wine for social mingling afterwards. Rahbek's Salons are always enchanted with folk poetry and communal singing from the folk high school songbook. At the salon on August 26, we are pleased to have author Peder Frederik Jensen among our speakers. Subsequently, publisher Andreas Harbsmeier will discuss why the publisher A Mock Book found it particularly important to reissue the Odyssey in Danish in connection with Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's work. This autumn, each of Rahbek's Salons will be followed by meetings of our youth forum, AGORA, for participants under 30. We look forward to seeing you!
