2026 marks the 400th anniversary of John Dowland's death. The English composer and lutenist served at the Danish court under King Christian IV from 1598 to 1606 and is the focal point of this opening concert. English lutenist Elizabeth Kenny and Japanese gambist Reiko Ichise perform alongside Danish soprano and opera singer Clara Cecilie Thomsen at Trinitatis Church.

The programme "Fantasies of Greatness" presents a historical portrait of the music heard in Copenhagen under King Christian IV.
