Fort Europa - A Journey Along the EU's Outer Borders

Ten years after the refugee crisis, the EU's new migration and asylum pact has come into force - the most comprehensive reform of the Union's migration and asylum policy in decades. It introduces new screening procedures at the outer borders, faster case processing, and increased focus on returning people without legal residence.

Journalist and author Anders Redder visits the Odense Main Library to discuss the EU's new border policy, the changing routes of migration, and the people caught in the debate. He draws on his book FORT EUROPA, published by Politikens Forlag, which is based on journeys to West Africa, the Canary Islands, Lampedusa, the Belarus-Poland border, and the borderland between Bulgaria and Turkey - places where he has investigated how policy works in practice, far from the meeting rooms in Brussels.
