Solar Eclipse 2026

On August 12, 2026, the moon passes in front of the sun, and in Denmark 80-86% of the sun's disk will be covered - this is called a partial solar eclipse. A total eclipse will only occur in East Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. The next time we experience such a powerful eclipse here at home is in 2048.

Mainbiblioteket marks the day by showing informative videos about the sun in the music department on the 2nd floor. You can also pick up solar eclipse glasses at your local library so you can follow the eclipse in the sky with your own eyes.
