Bjonko — Valby Kulturhus, Copenhagen

Bjonko Stosic was born and raised in Copenhagen but comes from a musician family from Bitola, Macedonia. Over two decades, he has developed his own hybrid of traditional Balkan folk music and contemporary mainstream genres - primarily on clarinet and saxophone - and has performed at festivals such as SPOT, Northside and Smukfest. In 2015 he won the award for "Danish World Live Act of the Year" at DMA World.

Bjonko collaborates across genres and has worked with artists such as Fallulah, Klamfyr, Jokeren, Jooks and Illusionisten - from avant-garde experiments to the meeting of hip-hop and Balkan.

Gaffa journalist Ivan Rod has written about him: "Bjonko is Denmark's - perhaps the North's - finest composer, arranger and musician within Balkan beat and the kind of crossover that connects traditional Balkan music with modern Western rock, pop and hip-hop. And he certainly reinforces that position with his new album, Army of Believers. (...) Bjonko brings another round of captivating music to the square (...) Music that moves you, and that you physically must become part of on the dance floor."
