Mikkel - Gadens Stemmer

Mikkel grew up outside Juelsminde with his mother, two sisters, and stepfather in a home marked by violence. Despite the family never lacking money, he felt neither understood nor loved. At school he quickly grew bored - academic subjects came easily, but sitting still was not his nature. His father ran his own carpentry business and drank heavily, while his brother, who grew up with their father, struggled for years with serious substance abuse ranging from cannabis and inhalants to heroin.

Mikkel trained as a locksmith, but the trade did not hold his interest. Despite a conviction for violence, he turned things around and built a successful IT business. Then came the accident - a drunk driver changes everything in a split second. He receives strong painkillers, becomes dependent, and later has to obtain them illegally. Life begins to crumble: anger, pain, identity crisis, undiagnosed ADHD, and escalating substance abuse.

Mikkel tells his story to show how quickly the foundation beneath you can disappear.
