Songs of Hope - Contemporary Classical Music for Cello and Chamber Choir in Aa Church

Songs of Hope is a collection of contemporary classical music for cello and chamber choir, released in November 2025. At these concerts on Bornholm, pieces from the collection will be heard for the first time on the island. The concert is presented by the vocal ensemble Herlufs Vokaler and cellist Anja Lillemæhlum.

The programme features works by Kristina Arakelyan, Howard Helvey, Jacob Narverud and Anja Lillemæhlum - with texts from the Beatitudes, William Blake and Percy Shelley - as well as The Oak by Becky McGlade, Musique de sur by Vasks, excerpts from Pièces en concert by Couperin, motets by Telemann and autumn songs in arrangements by Bo Holten and Karsten Gyldendorf, among others. In connection with the concert, visual artist Tilde Lerche Engstrøm presents a small exhibition on the theme of "hope".

Performers: Herlufs Vokaler vocal ensemble, Karsten Gyldendorf (conductor and organist) and Anja Lillemæhlum (cellist). Herlufs Vokaler is affiliated with Herlufsholm Church and specializes in contemporary and early classical music. Anja Lillemæhlum studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music with Morten Zeuthen and holds a solo class from the University of Southern Denmark's music conservatory with Niels Ullner.

Doors open at 19:00. The concert requires a culture pass.
