Anders - Voices of the Street
Flakhaven foran rådhuset, Odense · 209 kr. · ≈ 28 €
Anders was born in Aarhus in 1978. When he is two years old, his parents divorce - the beginning of a turbulent childhood where his mother finds a boyfriend in the biker scene, and he and his brothers grow up surrounded by crime and drugs. As a child, he is placed in respite care, where he is subjected to violence and abuse.
Criminality escalates, and during a prison sentence an accident occurs: a bull tramples him. He is moments from death. After six months in a coma and two years bedridden, he loses his mobility and ends up in a wheelchair. The painkillers he receives during this period make him dependent, and it throws him into years of severe drug use and homelessness.
In early 2025 he gets his own apartment and is largely clean. But shortly after, he must have one leg amputated due to an infection - and the struggle begins again, now with phantom pain as a constant companion. He dreams of visiting his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Spain.
Anders tells his story to show how dangerous it is to say yes to morphine-based painkillers - and to process the scars that childhood neglect has left on his soul.
