GUNNAR HALLE • Nordic Soul

Paolo's Jazz Club presents its September concert featuring Norwegian trumpeter Gunnar Halle in a solo-duo meeting with the venue's own Paolo Russo.

The collaboration stems from two sold-out and acclaimed concerts with Paolo Russo's Scandinavian Trio - featuring Thommy Andersson (SWE) on double bass and Jeppe Holst (DEN) on 7-string guitar - during Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2026 at Jazzhus Montmartre. Gunnar Halle performed both evenings, and he and Paolo shared study time at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen (1997-2002). The musical reunion sparked the idea for this concert.

Lineup:
Gunnar Halle (NOR) - trumpet & electronics
Paolo Russo (ITA) - bandoneon & piano

Gunnar Halle is regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Nordic jazz, known for weaving electronic textures and unconventional timbres into his playing. He has previously worked with Eivind Aarset, Nana Vasconcelos, and Pierre Dørge, among others. Dagbladet (Norway) wrote of him: "Gunnar Halle's trumpet playing is like a ray of light through a foggy morning. His tone is pure, vulnerable, and technically excellent."

Tickets are purchased via Billetto.dk. Early bird price: 275 DKK. Regular price: 295 DKK (approx. 40€). If the concert is not sold out, tickets can be purchased at the door for 325 DKK / 45€.
