EGESKOV - Lecture on the Popular Romance Series

Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis visits Tarup Library to discuss the novel series EGESKOV, which she co-wrote with Thomas Rydahl. The series is set in 1870s Denmark with Egeskov Castle as its historical focal point - a period after 1864 when Denmark reinvented itself and laid the foundation for modern society.

The narrative moves through the castle's social layers: nobility in the grand rooms, servants in the basement, and common folk in the fields - a classic upstairs-downstairs drama about power, hope, and human fate.

During the lecture, Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis discusses the craft of historical fiction, the research behind the books, and the balance between fact and fiction. She also explores the journey from novel to the forthcoming TV series, described as a Danish counterpart to Downton Abbey.
