Concert with soprano Anna Maria Wierød and Duo al Dente (Kirsten Lund Jensen, recorder, and Per Weile Bak, lute)
Koncertkirken, Copenhagen · 75–200 kr. · ≈ 10–27 €
DGS presents soprano Anna Maria Wierød and Duo al Dente - Kirsten Lund Jensen on recorder and Per Weile Bak on lute - in the concert "Time Stands Still", dedicated to John Dowland's lute songs.
2026 marks the 400th anniversary of Dowland's death. He lived from 1563 to 1626 and had a special connection to Denmark, where he served as court musician at Christian IV's court from 1598 to 1606 - a period that gave rise to a significant part of his lute songs. Among them is the famous "Flow My Tears", based on the lute solo "Lachrimae", which many DGS members surely know from guitar.
All three musicians work daily with historical music, and the programme focuses on Dowland's lute songs in a simple and sonically concentrated format. Per Weile Bak also performs several lute solos, and here the programme extends toward more recent times: along the way, lute versions of melodies by Sting and Pat Metheny are performed.
