My New Band Believe [UK]
Spillestedet Stengade, Copenhagen · 155 kr. · ≈ 21 €
Cameron Picton, former bassist and occasional frontman of black midi, brings his new project My New Band Believe to Stengade on October 11.
The band releases its debut album 'My New Band Believe' via Rough Trade Records on April 10, 2026. One of the album's central tracks is "Love Story" - a literal love story about a couple in everyday routines who suddenly fall apart. The song draws on and directly quotes love songs that Picton could think of, and was written over a short period in early 2024. About the album, Picton himself says: "With this whole record, I was trying to make another case for how the modern singer-songwriter album could sound [...] I've tried to give consequence to the small to make the big feel real."
When black midi disbanded in 2023, Picton chose neither to go solo nor start a new band immediately. It was from that position - neither team player nor band leader - that he entered the studio, and My New Band Believe gradually took shape. On the record he is surrounded by musicians such as Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble and Andrew Cheetham.
