A Lifetime of Religion and Culture: Encounters Across Borders

Lorens Hedelund left Denmark at 25 with a business and office administration degree, settling in the borderlands between Pakistan and Afghanistan with his young wife. There he studied Pashto, Islam, and local culture at the university.

After seven years, he moved to the Arabian Peninsula, where Oman became his base for the next five years. He led the Family Bookshop Group chain with branches across several Middle Eastern countries. He then spent 12 years as a department head at Danmission, overseeing work in Africa and the Middle East.

Hedelund has also worked as a tour guide, bringing Danes into close contact with distant cultures and religions, combined with teaching and lecturing. In this talk, he shares experiences from a life lived across borders, languages, and faiths.
