Aarhus University Choir
A classical chamber choir from Aarhus University performs a diverse repertoire arranged in thematic programmes.
Aarhus Universitetskor is a classical chamber choir founded in 1995 by Carsten Seyer-Hansen at Aarhus University. The choir works across a wide repertoire - from the Renaissance to the present day - and shapes it into thematic programmes. A particular focus is new Danish choral music: the choir has given world premieres of works by Svend Nielsen, Bo Gunge and Stefán Arason, among others, through close collaboration with living composers. Since 2008 the choir has been directed by Søren Kinch Hansen, a lecturer in choral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
The choir performs on September 6, 2026 at Hjørring Gymnasium under the direction of Søren K. Hansen, arranged by Hjørring Musikforening.
In February 2025, the choir performed a thematic program inspired by the Lamentations in the Old Testament with works by Poulenc, Rheinberger, Brahms and Mendelssohn in Silkeborg Church.
In 2024, the choir collaborated with Coro Misto on a performance of Brahms' Fest- und Gedenksprüche and Rheinberger's Cantus Missae, opus 109 in Horsens Klosterkirke and Nibe Church.
