Acoustic Lounge
Acoustic Lounge is a jazz orchestra built around world percussion, featuring strong soloists including bassist Jesper Bodilsen and saxophonist Gabor Bolla.
Acoustic Lounge is a Danish jazz quintet founded by percussionists Mikkel Schnettler and Michael Hartvig, who built the group around percussion rather than a conventional drum kit - drawing on instruments from Tibetan finger cymbals to Brazilian surdos. The lineup is rounded out by vocalist and pianist Søren Baun, bassist Jesper Bodilsen and Hungarian saxophonist Gabor Bolla, with a repertoire spanning jazz standards, bossa nova and pop classics by Elvis and Pharrell Williams. The band has released two albums and a Christmas EP on Mingus Records; their debut 'The Sound' (2017) surpassed two million streams worldwide.
Acoustic Lounge plays Christmas concert at Kedelhuset on Friday, December 4, 2026 with the program 'Soul, Jazz & Jingle Bells'.
The band performed at a Christmas concert in Kirkeskibet in Copenhagen on December 10, 2025 with free admission.
The second album 'Alone Together' was released on July 8, 2022 on Mingus Records with ten tracks and with Gabor Bolla as the new permanent saxophonist.
Jazz Journal reviewed 'Alone Together' and highlighted the band's ability to give well-known songs a distinct soul and Latin American groove.
