Afternoon Vibes is a women's rhythmic a cappella choir based in Aarhus, led by Sophie Lillelund Kirkegaard, a student at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium). The ensemble, with up to 16-18 singers, draws on jazz, pop and swing, and uses VOPA (vocal painting) - a live-composing sign language for choirs - as a central part of its artistic practice. Most of the arrangements are written by Lillelund herself.
Sophie Lillelund Kirkegaard performed as conductor and composer at a big band concert at Musikhuset Aarhus in May 2025.
Afternoon Vibes performed at AM Korfestivalen at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium together with two other Aarhus choirs.
The choir gave a joint concert with the Nevertheless choir at Folkestedet in Aarhus in June 2022.
