Theories About the Large and the Small
An evening exploring theories of the universe with physicist Holger Bech Nielsen and science journalist Albert Sneppen.
Albert Bjerregård Sneppen (born 1998) is a Danish astrophysicist and PhD student at the Niels Bohr Institute and The Cosmic Dawn Center in Copenhagen. His research focuses on neutron star collisions, black holes and cosmology, with publications in Nature and The Astrophysical Journal. He gained international attention in 2021 for a mathematical formulation describing how light bends near black holes, and he is also an active science communicator.
Sneppen published a new article in Physical Review D in March 2026 about neutron star collisions and kilonova physics.
Sneppen and Jonas Kuld Rathje toured Denmark with the lecture 'The Universe's Beautiful Secrets', including in Aarhus and Copenhagen.
On 29 October 2024, the book 'Black Holes: The Hunt for the Universe's Beautiful Secrets' was published, written together with Jonas Kuld Rathje and published by People's Press.
Sneppen received the EliteForsk Travel Scholarship of 200,000 kr., presented by Queen Mary and Minister of Education Christina Egelund.
In 2022, Sneppen received his first article in Nature about the GW170817 collision of two neutron stars.
