Afargang is a Norwegian folk black metal project founded by Olav Luksengård Mjelva, an award-winning Hardanger fiddle player from Røros. Already known from groups such as SVER and The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, Mjelva has contributed to soundtracks including Marvel's Loki, Amazon's The Rings of Power, and God of War: Ragnarök. With Afargang - completed by guitarist Stian Kårstad, bassist Sindre Bråthen Tjørswaag, drummer Jon Even Schärer, and vocalist Haldor Bromstad - he fuses Norwegian folk tradition with black metal into a sound that defies easy categorisation. The debut album Andvake was released in June 2025 on By Norse Music.
