Ben Lukas Boysen (born 1981 in Oldenburg, Germany) is a Berlin-based composer and producer working at the intersection of electronic music, ambient and chamber music. The son of opera singer Deirdre Boysen and actor Claus Boysen, he began studying piano and classical guitar at age seven. Since 2016 he has released on the acclaimed British label Erased Tapes, and alongside his own albums he scores films, TV series and video games under the alias Hecq.
Ben Lukas Boysen released his fourth solo album Alta Ripa on Erased Tapes on November 29, 2024.
In connection with the Alta Ripa release, Boysen toured North America for the first time with shows in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, among others.
Boysen composed the music for the six-part British thriller series The Gathering for World Productions and Channel 4.
Boysen revived his experimental Hecq project with a new five-track EP titled Form on Max Cooper's Mesh label.
