About

Bjonko, born Bjonko Stosic Petersen, is a Danish-Macedonian clarinettist, saxophonist, producer and composer who grew up in Høje Gladsaxe with roots in the Macedonian musician town of Bitola. He started out in the Tivoligarden marching band before learning Balkan folk music from clarinet legend Chapche Naumovski during childhood summers in Bitola. For more than two decades he has been a defining voice on the Scandinavian balkan beat scene, fusing traditional Balkan folk music with rock, hip-hop and pop, and collaborating with artists including Fallulah, Jokeren and Klamfyr. He won the Danish Music Award for Best World Live Act in 2015, and UNESCO and the Danish National Commission have recognised his musical work promoting peace in the former Yugoslavia.
