Dave East is the stage name of David Lawrence Brewster Jr., born June 3, 1988, in Harlem, New York. His 2014 mixtape Black Rose caught the ear of Nas, who signed him to Mass Appeal Records, setting off a run of Billboard-charting projects including Paranoia: A True Story (no. 9) and his debut album Survival (no. 11). Beyond music, he has built a parallel acting career, most notably portraying Method Man in Hulu's Wu-Tang: An American Saga.
