About

Gábor Bolla is a Hungarian saxophonist, born in Budapest in 1988, who grew up in a Roma family and taught himself clarinet at the age of ten. In 2003, aged just 15, he reached the semi-finals of the World Saxophone Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and he has since performed alongside names such as Johnny Griffin and Kenny Garrett. He has released several albums as a bandleader, including his debut 'Find Your Way' (ACT, 2012) and the quartet record 'On the Move' (Stunt Records, 2022), and has lived in Copenhagen since 2014, where he is now a fixture of the local jazz scene, blending hard bop and modern improvisation with Hungarian roots.
